information
Just had me cup of tea. You can buy the liquorice teas in any health shop amd they're lovely but I still think they should come with health instructions. Though, ofcourse, ask your doc before using herbal medicine .. that's what I've said from the beginning and I still say it .. especially if you have health problems. That's what any herbalist will tell you and I think it's the same if you're buying herbal treatments from a shop. It's just common sense really cause they do have interactions with other meds etc. The packs really should come with more information I think though. I suppose NHS Direct would advise too.
There is a lot of conflicting advice out there so it's best to get it from a medical person and if they say ok then that's fine.
My doc wasn't concerned about me using the teas though I kept to a low dose and now will still only have one liquorice tea steeped for five minutes a day!!! And only as a medicine which is a shame cause I like them.
The liquorice tea works well for me and it's sad that I have to limit it but there you go. I'm still feeling much better than I was a few weeks ago and I can always add a liquorice tea to the other herbs I'm taking when a cold appears.
I decided to have a liquorice tea yesterday because I obviously had a cold though I still wasn't feeling as ill as I usually do .. but it was there .. wondered for a while if some of the symptoms were just the spices etc working. But I think it was the cold so I decided to add a liquorice tea too .. the addition made me feel a little bit better but I wasn't feeling that bad anyway. I think I've had two forms of infection in the last couple of weeks .. the last one was ushered in by my feeling depressed but I knew that it was the start of yet another cold so decided to just treat it. A few months ago I would've been feeling really dreadful. Well, I was.
That's all I can say really. I expect those that do use herbal medicine already knew all this and more anyway. There're quite a few herbal/alternative medicine places here so people would've gone to those and I expect the number of people using them won't have changed much regardless of the flu and all the info on the web.
I was talking about this to someone a few days ago that it was so odd that even with the net which is buzzing with info and if you research thoroughly enough you can find out so much. Possibly using wiki as a base and then going on to re-research any points you feel are really important .. like contraindications .. as far as meds go. Best to read more than one article I guess though to do a thorough research and research on from there. As I was saying .. it's strange that even with the net out there it seems that a lot of people are less well informed than they were when I was young. A lot of people have remarked about that over the last few years and I don't underrstand why this should be at all. It's a wonderworld for finding out things these days to me and the one thing .. regardless of it's imperfections .. mainly people induced .. that I'd've loved in this field that we didn't have back then, is the net
