Relaxation
Didn't sleep much last night .. think it was mainly down to my cold .. can make things ache more than usual .. the pills can do that for a week or so when the dose is changed .. so who kn ows.
Haven't really been doing much .. apart from resting .. not exactly sleeping though I do doze off now and then.
Did meditate for a little while this morning though found it difficult to concentrate which was down to my cold. Was reading a bit about meditation. Found a guided meditation that I thought was going to be a bit like one of W.J Ousby's .. maybe more of a simple relaxation technique really .. well, it should've been.
But wasn't. It was kind of an adaption. Mr Ousby suggests counting from 1 to 10 very slowly clenching and relaxing your muscles from the head to your toes and then relazing them while thinking that yiou are feeling more and more relaxed.
Say you think 10 in your mind and push your head back into the pillow for a count of 10 and then release the muscles and think I'm feeling more and more relaxed ,, then 9 ... 9 and screw your facial muscles up for a count of 10, then release them and think I'm feeling more and more relaxed .. then 8 .. 8 .. or 8 .. however you want to say it and I'm feeling more and more relaxed .. then work your way through the muscles. If you've finished before getting to 1 .. just say I'm feeling more and more relaxed as you go through the numbers.
When you get to 1 you can relax for as long as you like concentrating on the feeling of relaxation in your muscles. Then, when you feel like it, slowly count from 1 to 10 thinking I'm feeling more and more awake.
The guy who did the meditation had adapted it in a way that demanded too much initial concentration that wasn't very relaxing and then didn't bother to count back from 10 t0 1 again.
I found him. under a different name .. not for any reason other than he likes to play with words .. and he seemed to have lost interest in his meditation/relaxation technique. He's written a couple more which I haven't read. Not surprizing really because the way he'd written them wouldn't've worked very well.
Mr Ousby's exercises are adaptions of centuries old techniques which are now often used as a relaxation help.
