This or that?

Yeah, well, basically, whether they have ulterior motives or are just mistaken, one group of people are saying that the warming/cooling is a result of natural cycles and the other group is saying that it's down to industrialization.

The it's a natural cycle argument can be used both ways though .. one to say that because the earth has heated and cooled in the past the present temperatures are just more of the same.

The natural heating argument can be used both ways either to say that, yes, the planet is being heated by industrialization but because we are in a period similar to one in history, which has been shown before to be cooler at the time when the sun's activity is very low and that you'd expect to see a slow up in the general trend of heating and that is what's happening now.

Or, to say, that the earth is just going through one of many cycles of warming and cooling and that they're always going to happen .. and that's what's happening now and that natural phenomena are causing everything that's happening.

I said in me first blog that there are going to be lots of surprises along the way as far as climate change went, I meant planetwise, and that I thought that any we'd had so far were small compared to what was to come. Well, the surprises have been rolling in thick and fast .. though, things have kept in line with the climate models in other ways.

I guess all that's happened lately will lead to better controls .. though, maybe the planet, will be producing data that will fit into the climate change models in the next couple of years which will give a very good idea of what's happening and what is the cause.
