Friday
Been a nice day. Had to go to the docs .. and got there in time!!! Lovely weather, though there was a bit of a coolish breeze earlier on I guess and not quite as mild as a few days back when it still felt warm at midnight.
Was taught a way to say Lots of love and best wishes in Arabic .. practicing on the Arabic keyboard .. typing it out over and over helps me to remember it. Of course I now want to learn Japanese as well because of the cat blog. Someone said to me ages ago that he liked learning languages because it really opened up different cultures for you. I just try to learn two words a day plus studying a bit of grammar .. that's 730 words a year .. I find it much easier than trying to learn whole lists of words together which is what I used to do and sometimes extra words just kinda stay in my mind anyway which I suppose speeds things up a bit.
The grammar can take a while so I'm not trying to learn a language in three months!!! Thinking of the Hugo "Learn in three month" courses which are quite good but I guess we all have ways of learning we find easier. I was reading a review of them on Amazon and one woman guy suggested learning key words and slowly building up a knowledge of the language round them .. like choosing a sentence from a phrase book and learning grammar and other ways of using what you'd learnt I guess. She said it'd helped her learn and remember one language while using the Hugo way, which is more conventional, didn't keep things fresh in her mind. I've heard people say before that sorting out their own way to learn a language can make things a lot easier.
I make a weekly batch of of vocab cards too for revision each day for the week .. and whenever I want to go back through them. You can choose your own words to learn as you go along too.
Doesn't take much to keep me content I guess .. lol!!
