.......
Went to Sainsburys today .. porridge and pasta etc .. few tins of tomatoes and veggies .. well, saves me having to carry them back. I might try the old tomato and bean and veggies meals again .. sometimes.
Didn't go the meeting as I had something to sort out with my meds. Made sure I took me rubbish down as I want tomorrow to be concentrating on packing. Could've taken another down .. but not quite ready yet .. and that can follow after I've done the rest.
Wish I could've gone this afternoon .. but I'll call someone and see how it went.
Will do some meditating .. I do a bit .. but not as much as I should .. might start some very gentle yoga too. What is cool is that I have all that from my youth and don't have to learn it now. Being a child of the sixties was a blast really. Lots of nasty people around then too .. goes with being on this planet .. all the bigotry etc .. but there was so much good stuff out there too to be introduced to without doing drugs or needing drink.
I just picked out the things which suited me and I was lucky to grow up in an era that I was so suited to. Though some people I talk to do have a rather rosy picture of the times. There wouldn't've been protests if there was nothing to protest about.
My brother says he thinks that one of the problems today has to face is that there's not much support .. he's really thinking about the closure of the large psychiatric hospitls and removing that support away from people who really need it. I don't think he approved much of the hospitals themselves but would've liked to see comunities in their places as a basis for caring by the community that should've spread outwards offering help where it was needed rather than taking a lot of security away from people. I don't have the experience to understand in the way he does but I do understand where he's coming from and wonder if help has been withdrawn quite progressively from that start.
Then there's that old .. well, old by now .. bugbear .. the celebrity culture .. I don't understand it really .. though I will be reading Jimi Hendrix's' and Donovan's biographies .. but as a kind of looking back to my youth. I liked a lot of their music .. but can't say the liking the music made me interested in their lives. maybe there was too much difference .. with the drugs and stuff like that. I did read some biographies ..Oscar Wilde ... Vita Sackville West and Virginia Wolfe .. Kate Millett's and Audre Lorde's writings based on their lives. Not many though. And one about someone who had come through a tough childhood that I bought a while back after much consideration.
So, I guess u can say that I don't really understand the celeb culture. But I do like some of the work that some people put out. My brother is one for reading biographies .. Dylan , Sylvia Plath .. etc .. as well as enjoying their work. I would've read a biography of Buffy Sainte Marie if I'd come across one I guess. Well, more an autobiography .. I'd've liked to've known more how she felt about life .. in prose.
Anyway .. don't suppose I'll be reading any more.
