Hello 2010

Have met some lovely people through the music sites. One thing that I didn't know was that some people interpret music in pictures .. they hear music and the title of the piece and they'll see a story unfolding as the music plays out. A woman dancing on the sand with the wind blowing through her hair maybe.

And a poet who I've come to know well through her poetry as we've talked

Waves

Really need to use smilies.

And so well too .. it's been a priviledge.

And kinda nice cause I sort of knew them before I knew them through their art. I mean it mightn't've been as it seemed ... but, as it turned out, it is.

I was a bit shy about getting in touch after knowing things that are so deeply expressed but I'm very glad that I have.

Have to say that I've always found poetry difficult to understand .. but this spoke right to me.

And the beautiful music.

Goodbye 2009

I suppose they'll be back. Just read the other lot of far right crap!!! All I can say is that the only people it says anything about is them.

That's the third lot today. Was on the phone to someone who was talking about someone they know as well. Just one of those days I guess. Well, he's refusing to talk to them again.

Deja vu

They were banned again.

Let it rock

Ping

I found some music by one woman who I felt should be able to shatter crystal with her voice, Just a note here and there seemed to ping cells in my brain but I went off to do other things and have forgotten who it was .. or where I heard her!!!

Um ... it was Jamendo

http://www.jamendo.com/en/album/1415

Been reading up about them and they put this together even though thet lived quite far apart. Followed the link to his page and there's still quite a lot going on 4/5 years later.

Unusual and rather nice. It might take some getting used to but I know I'll be back again. And again.

back to Jamendo

And I tracked one of the musicians back to Jamendo. He had a kind of Gregorian Chant feel to his music .. which had featured in some music someone had played to me earlier in the day .. though it'd been Abba sang in a Gregorian style. Didn't really think it sounded like a Gregorian chant but we decided that maybe it was something to do with the timing of the music or something.

Apparently there've been lots of albums released like this .. they're very easy listening.

Just been back to listen to make sure it's really him .. it is

http://www.jamendo.com/en/artist/zero-project

Well, I might've clicked the wrong link.

Haven't listened to any of the music yet but he seems to play quite a range.

I hope I'll find my meditation music here .. but, if not ......................................
If I hadn't found any other music on the net .. this would've been enough over at the net archives. I can't believe it really.

It's metal ... a bit like Primordial .....

http://www.archive.org/search.php?query=collection%3Askeksis86&sort=-publicdate

Or, from their own site.

http://skeksisnetlabel.wordpress.com/releases/

Shame about the language barrier ... though to be honest I don't think it really matters. There are bands from lots of different countries.

Though, ofcourse, a lot of it's no good for meditatiom .. there are slow, dreamy pieces too.

Back

The people .. on site .. have been back after a little absence .. brains done in with ... well. whatever!!!

I'd noticed before .. but today it was more obvious .. they have no minds of their own. They're what people refer to as psychic vampyres I guess. They kinda hook into other peoples minds/lives .. and near enough everything they say is a version of what someone else has said .. except they mangle it.

And they kinda show their own personality ... talking about themselves in the way they twist things.

Heaven knows what they'd been doing for the past couple of weeks .. but it obviously hadn't made them very happy .. which I guess was why they were back.

Though maybe they've gone back to where they came from.

Beethoven?

Before I set off to the doc I was listening to this

http://www.jamendo.com/en/album/44647

Dunno if I was hoping it'd put a bit of a bounce in my step on my way to the docs. Whatever. The last track made me smile and I wondered what Beethoven and people would be doing if they were young musicians making music these days.

Back to doc

Was off to the doc early this morning .. then to Tesco .. was going to try for Clapham but decided that ... well, maybe not. Bit of a strong wind blowing at times and I found myself in what felt like a wind tunnel.

Curry Pot Noodling then!!!!!!

Shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

A bit of nice music just had playing softly for a while

http://www.jamendo.com/en/album/56745

Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Bit snuffly and tired . Still, have been asleep for quite a bit of the evening.

Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

The knock back effect and ISPs

The ISP have been talking for some time about how much it's going to cost to police the net .. and they don't want to have to do it. The estimates have gone down actually but it's still going to force people off the net which is going to become a viscious circle I guess. They put the prices up ... some people can't afford to pay the new prices so they drop out and that means there are fewer paying customers which will undermine the effect of the price rises .. so they probably go up again. And in a recession this'll be more than the amount of customers you'd normally expect. Infact it's a bit like some of the dynamics of a recession.

I changed what I'd written before because it made it look as if it was just a one off problem rather than something that could grow because of the knock back effect.

I've a temperature too .. so I might be a bit whoozy how I express myself at the moment. Treatment helps a bit but not totally it seems. Just been the last couple of months or so.

Does the internet have a future?

I was reading an interesting article on the web last night. Not going to link to it cause I think some of it was unfair ... trying to put the blame on one group of people which I didn't think was very fair. I can see that it's probably statistically correct but there are quite a few variables to take into account which just made me think that doing this wasn't fair.

What I did find out though was that if illegal downloading continues it's likely that the internet will change radically and that Youtube and other similar sites offering music will have to go off the net because of the cost of checking what's happening on their site.

It also said that there's a possibility free software will become a thing of the past too because of having to check up where it came from.

Also the ISPs like Orange and Talk Talk won't be able to be able to control illegal downloading without bringing in price rises to get on the net. I don't see how that'll work either as making it more expensive to get on the net will mean that fewer people will be able to so they'll lose money by having fewer customers and be back at the beginning again.

Get well

What a get well present for my friend ... finding this wonderful music and the article about his treatment.

Lovely

Oh this is nice .. it's the first music that's really made me want to get up and dance that I've heard in a long time. That's only going to happen in my head though .. my feet are tapping though and the beat's there.

Now onto the second track which is slower and ethereal. I understand why he;s put the rhythmic beat in the song but I'd've probably left it out as I think it would've made it even more beautiful .. for me but I realize that in some dance music now this beat is often there through out much if not the whole track and that for some people it will add to the feel of the song.

It's very beautiful with or without the beat.

Wish there were more songs.

http://www.jamendo.com/en/album/50595

..........................

I still haven't got round to mixing my binaural beats and music. Guess I'll use one of those free binaural beat generators to make my own and music from Jamendo that's been released under a relevant CC licence where you can use the work as long as you don't use it commercially and that you say whose music it is.

Got to learn how to do it .. how I'm feeling at the moment not sure if that's really a possibility .. the fevers of the last couple of months have left me a bit befuddled at times along with the pain .. I expect people will take care of it for me. Seems to be my song at the moment. Sigh.

Have to see what happens at the hospital. There's a chance that things will get better but for that to happen the auto immune condition will have to improve.

I'm getting old now too which makes fevers all the more problematic.

Anyway, we shall see.

Folk

Oh, wow, I've really liked some of this guy's music but it's often seemed to me that vocally he's come in on the wrong key and then wobbled .. I've just started playing this and he seems to be trying to experiment more .. and it's working. Before it was almost as if wasn't sure where to go. A bit like a wobbly Leonard Cohen.

Best of luck to him

http://www.jamendo.com/en/album/58063

and all that jazz

Had a nice time on Jamendo yesterday listening to ....... jazz!!!!!!! I didn't think that this would ever happen .. the jazz part ... not Jamendo.

Someone else mentioned this but you had to join the site to hear or download it so I went over to Jamendo to see if it was there .. had an idea that I'd seen the artwork that went with the music there.

http://www.jamendo.com/en/artist/suerte

Also this

Lovely music

Liked this too .. ambient rather than jazz

http://www.jamendo.com/en/album/2808

Haven't listened to the other album yet.

Youtube???

I was a bit surprised by all this cause I thought there was a function on realplayer that stopped you downloading a video .. maybe it was just my RP going wrong .. I dunno. But I really don't understand this. I have the free version of real player .. like most people I guess .. and hardly ever use it .. but I decided to test it out today and found that you couldn't use it off line. Tried WMP and found that you can.

So back I pottered to Youtube ... and, yes, there's that tab .. download this video .. so curiosity got the better of me yet again and I went and read their terms and conditions for using the site ... streaming only .. nothing to let you know if you just tum up to play their vids .. and I guess if you download to RP you can have the videos playing in any sequence you'd like them to so would be very nice to do .. except they let you download and then say that you mustn't!!!

And this isn't very fair on the CC musicians or anyone who's happy to share their work in that way either.

All a bit strange.

2

To be honest I don't see how it could be legal .. it's still breaching copywrite of anything that isn't being given away free. Audio is a separate entity from video and the audio is copywritten.

Editing

I've edited the post on the binaural beats about the video convertor because I'm not happy with it. I've read all the info I can find on it and my advice would be only to use it on material that isn't copywrited or we may find ourselves without free videos.

Happy with the music mixer though.

Um ....................

OK ... will just rest whether I can sleep or not!!!

Meditation

Came across this site yesterday

http://www.mymeditationgarden.com/

Through this article

http://www.mymeditationgarden.com/benefits-of-meditation/physical-health/meditation-heals-back-pains/

Guess I should start again and. I know my pain is rather more complex than this but it's worth trying. I do start meditating but it doesn't last for long.

Binaural beats

http://healingbeats.com/play.html

You can mix binaural beats with music

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Audacity

I guess at the computer you could have the binaural beats from the site above running at the same time as some music from another site. Guess that works through headphones too .. dunno .. never tried it!!!!

Anyway, think I better turn in as I'm a bit whoozy from a slight temperature I've had .. nothing like the ones I was getting for a while a couple of months ago as I have meds to help now when I need them .. and, hopefully, with some further treatment next year they might stop altogether.

Which reminds me I must phone the hospital ... though not right now!!!!!

Anyway, hope I've got that all right .. I'm a bit sleepy.

Gud night

Well, did hear another track from Azoora that they'd put up on last fm and I liked the singing on that.

Also heard some songs from a guy who is or used to be on the same net label as they are.

Think this guy could learn the vocal as well as the guitar scales cause he seemed to miss notes here and there as it sounded as if he has a nice voice in need of a bit of direction. I've only listened to a few tracks but if they're his own songs he's sure written some nice ones.

http://www.soundclick.com/bands/default.cfm?bandID=743131

http://www.23seconds.org/timchaplin.htm

Azoora

I'm listening to a group that's posted their music on Jamendo that had a song picked up for an ad. Can't remember if they mentioned it on Jamendo .. I'm over on their record labels site My reaction. so far, is that I'm not comfortable with the singing. Reading the reviews amongst the four and a half and five stars there us someone who felt the same but after listening to the album four times changed his mind.

Still music is very subjective .. musictomyears loves the guy's voice.

http://www.jamendo.com/en/album/43781

nother nice album

This is amazing music .. not my kind of music admittedly but I can hear how beautiful it is .. and I left it playing for quite a while, mainly to see if it carried on as nicely as it started, but also cause I didn't feel any need to turn it off. I can really understand why people have been buying the cd version rather than having the mp3 downloads even though they're free. I find both her and Mindthings music amazing though just out of personal musical preference would prefer to listen to Mindthings. I do know how amazing this is though.

http://www.jamendo.com/en/artist/Maya_Filipic/shop

Guess she's made quite a few people happy.

Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Too tired to do much today .. think it's a slight cold but, anyway, just wanted to curl up and doze .. so did and found the day just sped past. How can it be almost nine in the evening .. feels as if the day should be just beginning .. except that I'd like to sleep again. Thought that I had a cold a couple of days ago.

Anyway .. will do dinner .. won't take long .. and then just get a bit more rest again I guess.

Pathe

Talking of old British institutions reminded me of Pathe Films so I went over to their website when I logged on this morning. I'd totally forgotten about them but the Carry On Films must've jogged my memory over night. They've put short clips from their newsreels from 1896 to 1970. Shame the newsreels stopped then because they're quite fascinating to watch.

Carry on laughing

I did see the whole lot of Carry on Films in one of the charity shops here. Probably should've got them I guess. I did look. Can't really remember them that well to be honest .. just an odd joke here and there.

Well, from Karry on Up the Khyber to Carry on Matron

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carry_On_(film_series)

Used to luv Kenneth Williams and Charles Hawtrey. Funnily enough they remind me of a bit of a lovely doctor I used to know.

I will watch the films with happiness. Reminds me of when I went to see The Rocky Horror Show and I realised that Tim Curry looked a lot like one of my friends!!

Gudnight

I had a nice peaceful Christmas. In touch with people just to let them know I care and the other way round which is the major part of Christmas. Have been thinking of C and folks and hope things improve. To be honest I don't understand how anyone could be sleeping rough if they don't want to.

The best society and the most successful one is said to be the most equal one so surely what we should be aiming for is at least providing a bed for the night in stable conditions for it's citizens. Also a good education service and health service where people feel secure and happy.

Ah .. talking about the health service ... I got Carry on Nurse and Carry on Doctor .. plenty of hospital humour there ... lol!!!!! Oooohhhh Matron!!! Haven't watched them yet but I will in the next few days. I'll try and keep a bedpan face!!!

We try and out do each other but I expect the Carry On team do better!!! lol!!! Just getting them made me laugh anyway.

That was yesterday though .. and I'm now another year older and should know better!!!!

Goes to look at cast list ... oh, well, maybe not. Seems they were still keeping us in stitches in the 70's with Carry on Matron.

Birfus

I'm now a year older too!!! What can happen in a day!!! lol!!!

writing

Things are still moving on again in other ways. Slow is ok. Obviously have more to add as time goes on .. it's a bit like Jamendo I guess .. but there is a point where I've decided .. final full stop. It's only three or so months down the line and I'm not well and the people who're involved lead very busy lives.

Though having said that one friend of mine has just finished a whole pile of work!!!!!!!! Don't know how she goes out to work .. part time .. edits and does other things of her own.

Slightly spacey

Just playing the first track from this page

http://www.artistserver.com/Brainbelly

It's a softly flowing piece of music .. space ambient???

I almost put a link to Largeheartedboy's blog up but there's a link to his blog on t'other blog's links to other sites so it's up already.

I imagine he's put up links to all the blogs I'd seen.

Christmouse pies

Dozed off last night and am still a little sleepy mmmmmmm zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz though have been up and around since tenish. Found out that a meece had eaten some of someone's home made mince pies over night. Guess s/he'll be feeling it soon as they had brandy in the filling. They hadn't packed them away as they usually would have and a meece found them. Luckily they've some filling over so they've made a few more this morning which'll be put in a tin!!!!!

My friend is so happy that I found the article I thought might be lost. It'd seemed, a few months ago, that he didn't really need to have any treatment for a while so he'd decided to finish his studying then have a think about what to do. Now it seems it could be better if he has treatment now rather than leaving it and he wanted the article. Luckily I managed to get the search terms right and Google turned it up with my first search.

Zzzzzzzzzz

Just a few single MP3s including a couple from the rather nice Yeasayer

http://www.nowwearefree.com/downloads.html

and

I really like some of the cover art that goes with the cds on Jamendo and the other CC sites. I clicked a link from one of the musicians who's put a bit of music up recently and found a site where he's selling his music. He has two or three albums and quite a few singles up on Jamendo.

http://www.jamendo.com/en/artist/SoLaRiS_%285%29

Clicked a link from the other site and found this

http://www.cafepress.co.uk/cp/prod.aspx?p=laissor.21281261

Very nicely designed. I lost interest after hearing the sample from track 3 as I'd only be looking for very soft music though I noticed that other people had found the cd very relaxing.

Notice that he released that in 2005. I'd've thought that people would generally test out releasing music on Jamendo first rather than the other way around. I suppose he might be hoping that someone will licence music for commercial purposes. He's also put a link up to his pages on last fm. And he's been given two donations on Jamendo.

Listening to

Am listening to this album

http://www.jamendo.com/en/album/44337

I didn't really expect this as the guy who told me about it's very into heavy metal.

I'll start writing down tracks I really like from the cds so that I can make samplers.

To start off with I'll do some that are soft music for healing. It's difficult with my dislike of Western classical music so what I'll do is make a separate classical one of gentle music and then do the others without any classical music at all .. there's plenty of other gentle music to choose from.

Different cc licences

Ah .. the Jamendo creative commons licences are variable .. there are some you can sample and make derivative works from as long as you give credit to the original artist. I was talking to one of the artists who has a few albums up there and he says if you want to know whether you can sample from the music look at each albums page and it will tell you the conditions of the creative commons licence each individual musician has issued the album under and a lot allow you to sample from their music as long as you credit them.

Some don't though. Dunno why cause it would mean more people would hear their music.

I'd read that it was a blanket cover under Jamendo's rules but that was wrong .. the cover that covers all the music there is that if you use it commercially you have to pay for it but if you use it for personal use only it's free .. though you can buy a cd if you want .. and some people do.And the licences there do seem to include giving credit to the artist.

Clubbing in - G

Does the space saga end up ok .. the last track is clubbing in 0 G which I take means clubbing in 0 gravity!!

So here goes .. there are other albums on the site too all clustered around this family

http://www.ragingfamily.com/Space_Tragedy.html

Been listening to this too which isn't bad in a light hearted way. Now don't tell me that it's heavy deep industrial grunge trance groove!!!! lol!!!

http://www.groovecaffe.com/releases/view/121/

All right, don't then!!

Off to the docs

Back from the docs .. won't be going back for a few days obviously but will have to go either to A & E or a walk in clinic I've got the address to.

Didn't see the homeless clip this time but going reminded me of a conversation I had with someone this week about some homeless people I know about from The Midlands .. the cold weather has been awful for them and they've been catching colds and getting secondary infections because they're not eating properly and their bodies can't cope .. that's on top of being homeless.

I've given a little for the homeless .. do every year at Christmas. Think I've said before that we don't go overboard on pressies or anything like that. Don't get me wrong .. if people want to have a break from work and let their hair down to break the working year up that's all good. And, of course, families and friendship.

I've done very little ..I've got a couple of Carry On videos found in a charity shop from one person .. lol!!! It's a long, long time since I've seen one of those films but I do remember Kenneth Williams and Hattie Jacques and all well. Just a friendship token and some home made bits and pieces. I made little things too. I did send some marzipan for St Nicholas Day though and we had a sort of friendship day then as St Nicholas Day is really meant for sharing. And, of course I got friendly reminders then not to be late for the next 12 months. lol!! Will try!!

I do me best!!!

The walk to the doc and back was a bit more difficult than yesterday .. thought it might be this morning. Things are going to be variable .. but it wasn't too bad. all things considered. Dunno why when it was so bad on Monday.

Well, I do in theory but the difference can be so great from day to day.

I was listening to a space musical before I set off for the docs. It's not bad music I guess .. did notice feom the site address that it's a sad space adventure which I hadn't realised when I started playing it,

The music isn't bad really I guess.

Someone said that Mindthings music was in Erik Satie's category though Mindthing's music is more complex. He likes Erik Satie's and Mindthings's music.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Erik_Satie

..................

Among some of my generation on the hippie side the word commercial was a dirty word though, of course, most things in the music industry were commercial whether they were in the singles chart or not. I think the word commercial really meant middle of the road or a singles orientated artist.

In those days, for the most part, most people didn't get the chance to hear your music unless you were played over the media which was very limited. Very different these days. Though the chances of people finding it must be quite limited .. which is why places like Pure Volume exist. There was a small club and pub scene but that was about it really.

Now there's just so much music.

2

Some of the musicians on pure volume are very famous .. didn't come across them to start off with .. now I see the attraction for everyone .. it's a good platform for the musicians because it's aimed at a fan base which in it's turn aims more or less at a certain audience. Very commercially orientated.

Listening to ... again

Anyway, back on Jamendo listening to Mindthings. His music kinda makes my brainwaves curl up in a warm. fuzzy, relaxed ball. He's starting a group. Wonder if they'll be Jamendoing or if they'll go to one of the slightly more commercial sites. If I'd been told about his music I wouldn't've thought that I'd've liked it but my mind just switched into it the first time I heard his Life's Path album.

I was listening to Maria Callas on Youtube last night but I really couldn't connect and turned it off after a couple of minutes .. so I do generally feel the same.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L9HEMyUjtgg

A site for commercially signed musicians mainly but a few have given a free download or two

This site is mainly signed artists who aren't part of the Creative Commons licences community so it's more streaming music than free downloads though there are a few .. apparently there were more a few years ago but the site has changed from mainly non signed to commercially signed musicians. I guess it's really a site for pop fans trying to find new music now more than anything else. The fans can sign up and leave messages for the bands they like.

http://www.purevolume.com/

The downloads are in the top downloads section.

I wonder how well the musicians on the site are doing commercially. Have been listening to streaming music from one group who charted at 151 in the Billboard 200 in the States and they do have fans writing messages to them on the site. It's much more fan based than my space. Some of the musicians have uploaded photos you can get to by clicking on the photo on the music pages and the fans leave comments but it's not fanziney as the musicians and the fans aren't updating about the musicians lives and music.

What is it these days with the expressions!!! .. I've noticed that some of the metal bands go for it too!!! This foto reminded me. They're tha band I mentioned before.

Newsy music blog

Anyway here's one of the CC music blogs.

http://freealbums.blogsome.com/

I think quite a bit of the music that he's found, liked and linked back to is from Jamendo and the archive org but there are others to small free web labels like these two

http://www.headphonica.com/?page_id=8

http://rockproper.com/about/

The download links from his blog go directly to the page on the site they came from.

The first classical one is from the archive org

http://www.archive.org/details/BartokViolinConcertoNo.2

Click on Archives by month to posts back to 2007

He also has a list of blogs and sites offering CC music if you click Other Music Sources. Some of the sites listed under Record Labels offering Free Downloads offer a few sample tracks. They are fully commercial record labels offering a track by track download version of sampler albums.

He's put a new album up over night!!!!!! Another one from the Archive org,

Maybe this site covers all the blogs etc I saw before .. it covers quite a few. He says the links are links to the kind of music he likes. There're are quite a lot so maybe his lists will cover anything else I'll find!!!!! Anyway, there's lots to check out there.

music

It would be nice to be like musictomyears in some way cause she enjoys so much of the music she hears. I'd like to hear what she hears in some ways cause she gets so much out of listening to such a variety of music.

Again it shows you how different people's musical tastes can be.

Found it

Found it!!! Unfortunately .. not the pain relief info as well .. but have found the other.

Googling

I'm going to be spending some time trying to find a medical article I read a few months back. Found it for someone but he decided that he didn't want to go through the treatment then as it'd get in the way of his studying. Well, unfortunately things have changed so he's had to change his mind. The article would be very helpful now. I didn't save the article or the link to it .. bit like the article about the new pain relief that's in the pipeline. Guess it's always a good idea to save copies of things like this whether you think you need them or not.

Anyway, hopefully I will find it.

Tuesday

Did the docs and Tesco today. GP in the morning then Tesco in the late afternoon. There was snow to walk round but apart from that it was ok. Couldn't really work the snow patches out though. Would find one in an otherwise near clear piece of pavement and there'd be puddles of water here and there too. The snow looked pretty crisp but on the way back it'd got a bit colder so I decided to walk round rather than over it. Had a bit of help part of the way back too

ThankQ.

I didn't think that I'd be walking anywhere today after yesterday. There'd been a lot of muscle movement over the afternoon and evening and it didn't feel as if it was going to be much better today. I wasn't too good to start off with but then things got better and it was easier than it'd been for a while much to my surprise.

More of a variety of CC sites

Someone else found these .. I haven't re-traced the blogs yet. The first is a community of people who remix from music on the site and passers through can stream or download the whole or in part

http://ccmixter.org/

Then, another site that has some tracks on it .. smaller than Jamendo and more community based. I might've seen this before or there's another site very like it out there.

http://artistserver.com/

And these two with CC loops and samples

http://www.freeloops.com/

http://www.freesound.org/

He told me about this video site too ... haven't had much of a look round it but it's somehow connected to the archive site It's community based with an ecological base to it and looks good.

Back to the docs

Did go to the doc's today!! When I started out it was raining with maybe a few flakes of snow in the air. Wasn't sure if going was a good idea as there'd been quite a bit of muscle movement again but then thought as I'd missed an appointment it'd be better if I did.

When I left there was a blanket of snow covering the ground .. about an inch .. say 2 to 3cm .. deep or thereabouts. Went to the chemist to hand in a prescription for them to deliver and then walked back here. Didn't go to Tesco!!! Was a bit slow and thanks again to the people who asked if I needed any help.

Dozed off when I got back.

I saw the short film at the docs again .. all the way through this time. Turned out that it is a bit longer than I thought and that I must've come in when it was about half way through last time. It was made by a charity who offer a bed for the night to 18 to 25 year olds, It's not the only one. I still wondered if there was more help available at the end of a government helpline. Surely there should be some help available.

I remember when the New Horizon was opened in the 1960s. I believe then that around 40% of young people on the streets had been in care. Where's the back up .. for them and for others. I was going to say especially for young people who run away from home but really there should be some kind of help line there for people who need help. I'm talking about people literally on the street here rather than people who don't have a home of their own but have some form of temporary accommodation. Is there a central policy for helping people or is help different in different parts of the country without any national co-ordination.

The Blues

Well, could've slept better but I'm not too bad this morning all things considered. Suppose I could've spent the time learning a bit about Python. Think I'll read the site's info. Some of the books are updated though, I'm not quite sure how important that is or if you'll get the general gist of it as you go along. Will have to ask, Anyway, guess the info on the site'll tell me. There is that away weekend camp info to download which should tell you what you need to know anyway.

People say to get an idea of that first and then look at the others and that there are great communities to join if I'm interested!!! Seems like fun .. but seems like a lot of hard work.

Suppose I'll head over to the music sites to have another look. There's all kinds of music .. sometimes from the same person!!! The first piece of music on Ubetoo I downloaded was this

http://www.ubetoo.com/player.aspx?mediaid=17937

Not for meditation though!!!! And I'm a bit too sleepy to really appreciate it this morning too .. feel more like listening to dreamy music. This is more sci fi film music or for dancing.

It's nice cause music seems to be branching out. I thought even the indie side of things was becoming very samey a while back. Well, from what I heard anyway. But maybe it was all buzzing away underground.

I like quite a bit of metal music too .. though not for meditating again!!!!!

Last favourite track .. first liked them when they were a sort of folk-metal band!!!!!!!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GHvuXdhnieA

Starting to listen to a bit more jazz too which I like more than I used to and more blues music by people like Leadbelly and Robert Johnson. Used to listen to quite a lot when I was young but hadn't for quite a while.

What a voice and playing

Today's music

I guess Jamendo can work. It's revived my interest in music. Being ill had meant that it had faded away a bit .. but there's a kind of joy every time I listen to some music that I connect to. A piece of music and a song here and there. Sometimes I'll find an album and I don't connect to a couple of tracks .. maybe it's the words or music but something keeps me listening and two or three tracks into the album I hear something I like. Sometimes I like all the music, sometimes just a few tracks.

I've found that when I do like the music I become quite curious about the musicians .. something that doesn't usually happen in the more commercialised world .. guess I think they've been packaged and promoted long before I ever get to hear about them. I'd probably be more likely to buy an album of theirs than an artist packaged by the major companies.

Anyway, today I've been listening to

http://www.myspace.com/pixieguts

http://pixieguts.com/

http://www.jamendo.com/en/artist/Pixieguts

She has a mixture of records to buy or a couple of earlier ones to download for free. All her music is assessable through her myspace page.

And these people .. not really my type of music in general so I had it playing quietly in the background so that I could hear the songs. They're in French but even if you don't speak the language some of the songs are very nice to listen to. Well, what you like depends on your personal choice of music.

http://www.jamendo.com/en/artist/Lohstana_(2)

http://www.myspace.com/davidchapel

http://www.myspace.com/lohstana

http//www.jamendo.com/en/artist/david

I haven't listened to any of David Chapel's solo albums yet.

Must say that sometimes the guitar really reached out to me from among the lyrics especially on Puisque.. On the next track, Illusion, it was more a mixture of voice and guitar. The next track's a nice instrumental. Just played it very quietly and found it relaxing. Decided to download it.

There are some other blogs with links to CC music .. some from their own web record label, others have general music that they like. I'll have to see if I can find the links again.

Python

I know I' said I'd like to learn to programme. Well, who wouldn't like to be able to make their own games etc .. but it was really just wistful thinking .. you know just the thought of being able to make little fun bits of software. Don't suppose I will learn but I know that if I want to there's this .. for free, Guess quite a few people will have learnt it at school.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Python_(programming_language)

Someone said that it's as easy as writing a letter .. wonder what sort of letters they write!!!!!

It's here

http://www.python.org/

And there are tutorials as well

On site

And off ..

Don't know if they mentioned it but there's this that I found when I was searching for meditation music too.

http://www.ibiblio.org/collection/collection.php?second=e

And. probably, quite a bit more.

Don't suppose I will though!!!!!

But .............................................................................................

Sunday

There's some nice music on ubetoo. The UK site is getting ready to go now .. they had a news feed going a couple of days ago.

Not quite sure what's happening there .. are they a UK site for the CC licence organization or are they a site that is using CC licences for people to post their work to the site like Jamendo.

http://creativecommons.org/

They're mentioning remixing so the CC licence the site is promoting is a very open one. Guess will have to wait and see what happens. Are they just promoting CC licences in this country .. it half looks like it .. but, then again ..............

Had a better night last night .. though still have a bit of a cold. Went over to Tesco too .. not easy but much better than I thought it was going to be so I'm glad I went. Am tired though

pop ... pop music!

Listening to this at the moment .. was attracted by the exclamation mark .. first track's a catchy pop/rock tune .. or whatever .. probably indie I guess. Oh, it's changed .. gets noisier, louder. Quite good really I guess.

Hm!

http://www.jamendo.com/en/album/51872

Lol!

I listen to many different kinds of music but I'm sorting out music to have a kind of healing session with mainly and I've decided that I'll be using mostly ambient music. Probably listen to binaural beats too. Have to give Western classical music a miss cause I just don't like much of it.

Donovan and Buffy Sainte-Marie

Even if I hadn't given away my wonderful in the sale semi acoustic guitar I couldn't play any music now. I mentioned ages ago that my muscles stop me from being able to play but also don't think the strings and frets would do my fingertips any good now regardless .. so there you go. I wondered if all this had been there when I was young or younger if I'd've bothered to record my own music and put it on a site like Jamendo, I couldn't sing that well .. could manage some songs better than others .. the one I was most in tune with I think was Donovan's "Colours" .. I think his folk songs, on the whole, were nice melodies to sing and easier than a lot of songs. Used to sing a lot of Buffy Sainte-Marie's songs too. Used to have her songbook.

Hello Youtube again

Donovan .. not sure why I chose this version cause the other one is the one people are more likely to know I guess.

http//www.youtube.com/watch?v=EqkS5dVMbNc

Just enjoyed listening to a slightly different version maybe.

Lots of people used to sing it then and there're a few cover versions of it on Youtube now. Here's one of them.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qcvePi82jJc

Buffy Sainte-Marie

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BM92PRAVk68

And a cover version of one of her songs

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dyqMp4g5q9Y

But, I guess I'd've had to've written my own songs and music!!!!!!

It would've been really interesting to've had a Jamendo then and to've heard all the music like you can now.

MM CC More music Creative Commons

I found some meditational/jazz/blues music that I quite liked on Jamendo yesterday starting with this tune

http://www.jamendo.com/en/album/6035

The site had some tracks playing while they were doing maintenance and I wrote down the names of the tracks I liked and found the music through clicking links from the pages I went to.

This is the music that led me there

http://www.jamendo.com/en/album/50417

The link from the first musician's page on Jamendo takes you to another CC site that's a bit like Jamendo but this time you have to listen to each track all the way through before you can download it to RP. The adverts will pay the musician if s/he gets enough plays.

Saturday

Feel a bit better this morning .. though still feel like dozing. I was going to try and stay awake through the day but I think I'll just sleep when I feel like it for now.

Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz ... well, that's today taken care of then ... lol!!!

Well, for some of the time anyway!!!!!

Snow go

Didn't go to the docs today. When it was time to go I just didn't feel like going because my muscles had moved into a position that made walking rather difficult. Think that I'd've felt that I could've gone half an hour later. Have a slight cold and I guess along with the weather it's probably best that I stayed in anyway. I've dozed a lot during the day which is good.

Music

Haven't made any CC diskettes yet. My general opinion of a lot of the music on Jamendo is that it's quite nice but often not varied enough so a track here and there used and made into a sampler will be great. You're not allowed to actually change the music .. can't sample it for remixing as far as I know .. well, not without permission from the musicians .. but you can use separate complete tracks for a sampler CD for personal use .. nothing commercial like the ones on Amazon .. some of which are free.

http://www.amazon.com/2008-Amazon-Free-Sampler/dp/B001CQK8XU

I'm still searching for nice meditation music .. and gentle beats. I'm not that keen on Western classical music generally .. well, don't like it so while the Naxos sampler should be good it won't matter how gentle some of the music may be it won't be suitable for me. Music is, as people keep on saying, very subjective.

Away from meditation I liked this album .. though, for me, felt that now and then I'd like the vocals to be a bit steadier though not on all tracks.

http://www.jamendo.com/en/album/21501

and this sounded nice for people who like classical or classically orientated music

http://www.jamendo.com/en/album/55571

It does go to show how different peoples tastes in music are though.

I listened to someone's top 20 songs of this year and didn't particularly like any of them. Was a bit relieved that some other people agreed with me .. but, again, it does go to show just how differently people hear music.

I love Jimi Hendrix's music and was quite taken by surprise to find out that the plants in that experiment (Dorothy Retallack 1973) most certainly didn't!!!!! I wonder which tracks she played to them.

On with the search for nice ambient influenced tracks.

.......................

Think I'm starting to feel a bit better, pain or not, as me friends have had me in fits of laughter this evening. The giggles just started to bubble out. I'm surprised cause the pain and the tiredness do keep me a bit subdued at times.

Part of it is realizing that I've made the right decision about a few things. Realised that for sure (fer sure!!!) yesterday. Pretty neat as I've been quite woozy for the last few months and have sleep walked myself through quite a few things, messing up here and there as I go. Well, would've got more things sorted out if I hadn't been quite so tired etc. Couldn't be bothered really .. too tired.

Not sure what's going to happen as far as the pain goes. I never did try the pills that my doc prescribed for me before I came down here .. the ones related to ibuprofen .. can't remember what they were called. Wasn't keen after the way I'd reacted to the gavepentin (sp?) and I had to start just taking one a day and leave all the ibuprofen out!! I take a slightly higher dose than the over the counter dose and wasn't too keen on cutting it down like that while starting the new drug. Anyway, will see how things go. Haven't got in touch with the hospital about it yet. It was an appointment with the rheumatology dept I cancelled though it was for a scan rather than anything else.

The doc I saw when I first went to Guys has referred me all over the hospital .. well, Guys and St Thomases .. just covering everything. I suppose I should be reading the web site of the major organization for my illness. Did for a little while but there were technical problems for a little while and I lost interest. Will go back I think.

Morning

Wasn't so good when I got up but it's improved as the time's gone on. I'll get in touch with the hospital about the pain. It's been difficult to know quite what to do as it's so variable and I keep on hoping that my muscles'll reach a point where the pain isn't that bad .. but it's not really happening. There's always something going on now so I guess I better get in touch with someone about it.

Just got another letter from the hospital. At least it shows that now things have got moving they're doing everything they can.

Wednesday, December 16, 2009

Early Thursday morning

Well, have to wait and see what's happened. The pain in the right side of my back got vreally intense a while back and I thought that I was going to have to phone the hospital. It wasn't like the new pain that started a couple of weeks ago .. more muscle pain this time. It spread round to my lower left hand side too after a while and I thought that maybe the walk this morning hadn't been such a good idea .. too much strain after the new problems from a couple of weeks ago even though that is slowly clearing up,

So I sat here wondering what to do ... until the worst of it went away .. and, for the first time for quite a while, when I turned to move the muscles that had been so painful there was no pain.

Will have to see what happens now. They still don't feel that great but that pain has gone.

At the docs

We have a monitor that plays social and medical clips at my doc's to watch while waiting to see someone. The last couple of times I've been there there's been a clip about homeless youngsters and an organisation which can offer a bed for the night if they have one. Can't remember which part of the country it's based in.

I didn't quite understand why, if this organisation can offer these kids somewhere to stay .. well, if they've got enough beds to offer, why the government can't. Surely there must be people for these people to turn to .. if they've run away from home. Or, is it, that the kids don't have any trust in the social services if they've found themselves in a position where they've felt that they need to run away from home. If they've been brought up in care surely there must be somewhere they can turn to if they need help. I just hoped that there would be more things in place to help these days and a kid with nowhere they felt they could turn to was a situation from back in the past.

The hospital

Doc phoned about the biopsy today. I said that I wasn't sure about going to the hospital at the moment so he said to call him as soon as I feel OK about coming in and he's given me his bleep number so that I can get hold of him easily. He'd phoned last week too but there was no way I was going up there then. Still not sure .. though a biopsy won't be any trouble. I'd cancelled and re booked an appointment with another department at the hospital yesterday though that was a bit different. Anyway see how things go.

They're very good there about contact. A nurse gave me a number that I can use to get straight through to her. This was after they'd reduced the Cellcept on my last visit.

Wednesday

Almost decided not to go to the doc's this morning. Didn't really feel up to the walk when it was time to go .. and it was snowing .. though not much. But, I set off and, though I was rather slow, it wasn't too bad a walk all things considered.

I felt reasonable after my appointment so decided to see if I could get to Superdrug for some medical bits and pieces. Did that and set off for the Supermarket and got a few light bits and pieces + a tin of vegetable ravioli!!!

(Temptation)

Walking back was harder cause my muscles moved again so that my breathing was having to move more than it had and, ofcourse, there was some extra pain now and then from the muscles that were working differently .. but, nothing like it can sometimes be.

And, it had started snowing quite noticeably again when there'd been hardly a flake in the air when I'd left the surgery. Didn't mind that though .. was actually quite pleasant. Then, as I was almost back .. five minutes or so to go .. the pain stopped and my breathing became easier again. I can actually feel the difference in how things are moving now that I'm sitting down. There's a bit of extra sharpish pain now and then but it's not too bad.

Think walking to Clapham and back probably is still a bit too far though at the moment.

Music

Haven't felt too much like listening to much new music over the past couple of days really though did come up with this site that has a couple of nice creative commons tunes on it. I liked Darage Bang's tune .. though I would've softened some of the music in the middle of the composition and then slowly come back to how it was at the beginning .. but, that's just me and what I'd like to listen to at the moment!!!

http://kosmonetlabel.com/

Again. like Jamendo, they're a creative commons net record label.

Monday

Came back from the docs via Tesco again today and though things still aren't back to how they were they're definitely better.

tv

I don't really know much about music therapy though I have read about the plant tests they did in either the 1950s or 60s and a few other articles over the years. I remember that the plants liked the slower music best .. especially classical music ... lol!!!

I also knew someone that knew quite a bit about it all but I didn't learn much. I'm interested now so guess I'll try and find out what I can. Didn't read the articles on Jamendo.

Talking about music .. the X Factor over here has finished. It's the only programme on the TV I really tune in to and I'll miss it. First time I've seen it. I'd likrf Joe a lot but not right from the start. I'd liked Ricki, Lucie, Jamie and Stacey the most from the auditions. Then added the twins and Joe to the list after a couple of weeks. Joe just seemed to have a tone to his singing voice that could add a lot of emotion to what he sung.

Anyway it seems that the health service has lost a good potential medic but maybe his singing'll be a good tonic instead.

Sunday ..................

My right side is still more painful than usual but I think that's mainly down to muscle movement rather than any other problems. Just want to rest at the moment though.

Have been listening to this music .. was going to turn it off but found I didn't want to. Not muure of that classically influenced stuff!!!!! It has these tags .. electric, ambient, CLASSICAL, psychedelic, piano, instrumental, melodic, beautiful. emotion.

http://www.jamendo.com/en/album/4219

Liked track 3 .. Emotion Vibes the best. Sometimes I'd've just liked the music to be slightly different .. but that's just my taste in music .. would've liked it to be a bit more spacey here and there .. wanting it to ripple into places it didn't go to .. occasionally.

But, whatever, it was still a bit of music I wanted to listen to all the way through rather than just sampling a bit here and there to see what it was like which is what I thought I'd probably be doing just to get an idea of what it was like. I've downloaded the whole album!!!

Whoops

Whoops .. didn't realise that the voting was over so quickly for last night's X Factor. Hadn't watched the show before and, if they mentioned it on the show it must've been while I popped out of the room. Would've voted for Joe anyway .. but was a bit taken by surprise to find it all done and dusted this morning.

I'd only voted once before. I'd hoped they might've been on last night as someone had mentioned them coming back and either Louis Walsh or Simon Cowell had said something like wait and see.

and there

Gargle

I quite like that music ... meditations of a heart is quite nice. Still haven't jeard the rest of the music as I've had that on repeat for a while. Not very into classical music at all usually but there's something quite relaxing about this played at medium to low volume. Wasn't sure at first so I played it again and got to like it.

Isn't playing that well on the archive player so glad I heard it somewhere else first or I probably would've just left it.

Saturday

Still quite nice out there!!! I've been resting though as things weren't that good this morning. Was going to make some mixed track discs for friends from some of the creative commons music I've been listening to. Was chatting to one of the djs who has music on line who thinks posting his music on line has helped him get gigs. Another group I found through CCs a while back had some people I know in Belgium booking to go see them who weren't aware of them before .. so it can work. People have such different tastes in music .. and I'm there're so many different categories these days. I like music but there's only a little that I used to play a lot .. and since I've been ill that's got less too because I've been feeling so tired .. probably should've been the other way round.

Found this today from a Japanese group. Had heard the meditation track on another site so pottered over to have a look.

http://www.archive.org/details/ca243_g

There's going to be a UK creative commons site launched soon which hopefully will help UK artists get together.

Anyway, didn't do anything .. but will do.

Wasn't well when I got up this morning .. problems on the right side but much better now. Decided to rest up again though.

Friday, December 11, 2009

Friday

Walked up to Clapham this afternoon. Wasn't too bad all things considered but guess it'd be better to've left it for a couple more days. It's still so mild out there though I know a wind is forecast to blow in soon and it's going to get quite a bit colder for a while. So guess. weatherwise, it was a good idea to go out this afternoon, healthwise .. maybe I should've left it a couple more days.

This morning wasn't easy so didn't think that I would be going out but things started improving around midday .. though still didn't know .. but found I felt better on my feet than sitting down ... so!!!!

Had to go to the docs anyway .. then on to the chemist so I thought I'd give going to Clapham a go too.

Thursday, December 10, 2009

Sleepy day

Been too sleepy to do much today. Things were better this morning than yesterday but I've had a bit of new muscle movement on my right hand side which, along with the sleepiness, made me think that I should rest today. Things still haven't quite cleared up from the problems over the weekend though they are much better.

Listened to some of the music on the raaga site .. which is streaming music only though you can listen to whole albums on line .. then listened to one on Jamendo .. where you can download the albums there for free under the creative commons license that people use for their work who upload to Jamendo .. it's free for personal use but you need a licence or should buy the record for commercial use .. then over to Wolfgangsvault.com to listen to a concert .. another streaming site .. they have a few concerts up to listen to .. I'd hoped they would be videos so you could kinda travel back in time through them visually but they're audio. The site sells concert posters and fliers.

So .. back to Youtube. I do occasionally go there again . but the time where so many videos weren't available in this country kinda lost me the habit I had of going over there and I've never really got back into it.

Anyway, will go and do dinner now I guess.

.....

Went to the docs this afternoon then came back via Tesco. Was much better than on Monday though seem to have felt it this evening though it might just be more muscle movement .

...............................

Well. back with the X Factor and looking back at Ricki's audition. I'd forgotten that he was only 21 and hope that he'll be back somewhere or other. And the hat? Well, if he likes Reggae that explains that, doesn't it thinking back to the various incarnations of "mod" there've been over the years

Back in the day I used to like ska and bluebeat as well as West coat type music and had mod friends as well as hippy ones.

Prince Buster.

Reminds if Sue a lot. She's a year older than me. Looking back it's impossible to believe how the years have flown by.

I'm not that keen on orchestrated rock or orchestrated music in general so am not really into the music on the X Factor but I thought Ricki's audition was great with just a little music behind him. .

http://xfactor.itv.com/2009/episodes/video/item_200206.htm

He's got plenty of time to sort things out.

Anyway ... back to meditation vibes etc. Didn't feel much like searching yesterday. Just stayed with the track I mentioned .. well, the slow start took me down into the music and it was very melodic after that even though the tempo speeded up .. but I'd like something a bit slower throughout really.

Raaga.com

I typed Sanskrit into google along with other words that hadn't found the site I was on a few weeks ago and it came up!!!!

Hadn't saved it on favourites and I thought I'd lost it.

http://www.raaga.com/channels/hindi/

Off to look for more music

I'll have a look at the archives site and see what sitar and sarod music they have there. There's also a site that streams music that should come up with some. I'd like something a bit slower. The folk music isn't what I want at all at the moment while the third piece starts off slowly then speeds up though it's very nice to listen to .. but I'd like something slower paced all the way through really .. and playing for quite a long time. Might find something else here before I leave though.

Didn't feel like looking yesterday .

Tuesday, December 08, 2009

Tuesday

I decided to rest as much as I could today .. seemed to be the best thing to do really. Woke up in quite a bit of extra pain but it did wear off after a little while though came back intermittently throughout the day.

Listened to music for a while. Chose this because I like it and a study had shown this type of music to be pretty good for you. Chose the second track to play for a while as I wanted something slow and relaxing.

To the docs

Went to the docs this afternoon .. did almost decide not to but then thought I'd give it a go. Wore the heat pack my friend gave me. Thanks again. I did almost turn back but decided not to and I'm sure the walk did me good .. it's about a twenty minute walk there and back .. did wonder though as I was on my way there.

My last doctor had said not to let myself stiffen up if I could help it and this guy seems to agree. Our problems are rather different but I guess the same applies as far as exercise goes.

http://www.mylowerbackpain.com/index.html

Always best to talk with your doc first though as I expect he says.

Apart from tiring me out the walk doesn't seem to have caused any other problems.

Monday

My muscles are still giving me quite a lot of extra problems though are obviously a lot better than they were the other day. I did almost go out then thought better of it. Wearing one of the heat pads now .. it's a wrap around one rather than a sticky one like the ones I used yesterday. . A friend had them over from when they'd had some back trouble.

It'll take a few more days to clear up I guess .. not quite there yet.

Me games have gone back to the last week or two's scores though .. ok .. not like some of them I play with, but much better than before. Went right down after that hour or so of intense pain for a day. .. not surprisingly I guess .. but the scores are back up again despite the extra pain!!!

I would've called an ambulance if the pain hadn't toned down quite a bit. If it hadn't toned down at all I wouldn't've been able to move much so I wouldn't've had a choice but I'd've called one if things had stayed quite bad whether I could move or not.

Anyway, guess it'll be a few more days before it clears up.

Sunday

Not so bad this morning. Felt a lot better than yesterday when I got up. I really didn't know how it'd be but it's not too bad. Yesterday morning was something else and, on reflection, I guess I should've gone to hospital even though it improved enough for me to be able to get around. Someone's given me some heat pads they had which are very nice but I guess I really should've called an ambulance yesterday morning .. the pain was very bad and it could've been anything. I would've had to if it hadn't improved cause I couldn't've got around. I would've waited about another hour I guess.

I'm not quite sure why I waited. I usually do and it usually doesn't .. though this was different from other times I've had the same dilemma. Think I might call an ambulance in future.

Obviously I didn't even think of going out this morning. It would've been nice to've especially as I know that friends of friends go to sometimes but ................................ maybe not such a good idea. Maybe next week.

I think if anywhere .. it'll just have to be Tesco or somewhere similar. Will take one more dose of pain relief and see how things go. Ah, think I'll leave it .. or just five minutes or so out .. unstiffening. One of me other doc's favourite bits of advice.

Considering how things were yesterday morning I'm a lot better .. but maybe best to make sure I don't overdo it though .. it was only yesterday that I was thinking of calling an ambulance and things aren't back to how they were before that yet.

Electronic music

I have to admit that I often find it hard to relate to electronic music .. even dating back to Gary Numan. I did have Are Friends Electric but it did take me some time to really get into it. These days all the different kinds of electric music are difficult to get your head around even before you start listening to the music. What is this? What is that? Does it really matter? lol!!!

One of things that's annoyed me a bit while travelling through some of the webs nu music is that some of the best sounds limit themselves from blogland a bit because of their lyrics. Seems a bit self defeating .. but they are their own people. This happened with one of the funniest sites I've found ... but there are a couple of toons that just kinda you'd have to say look you mightn't like the lyrics or the video .. though, in this case, they're not too bad. And the idea behind one song is hilarious.

I so want to put a link up because most of the songs r fine .. but .. there you go. And they're brilliant musicians. Well, they're a collective of musicians playing a wide range of instruments .. not electronica this time.

Piece of music I'm enjoying in the electronica creative commons mode at the moment

http://enoughrecords.scene.org/

enrmp087 .. Megatone .. The First Space Voyage .. a bit more spacey than a lot of similar music on Jamendo.

I like quite a bit of the music on Jamendo. In fact it took me two days to actually find something I didn't like at all but I did think that some of the music was using the same samples too repetitively for me .. but that was just me .. other people sometimes found the same music brilliant. Just a personal choice in music .. well, obviously as some people there were playing music that I just didn't quite connect to over and over again ... lol!!

Saturday

Someone told me there was a programme on the radio this morning where two authors were discussing the pros and cons of using a word processor or writing by hand. The guy who used the word processor wrote 3000 words a day, the one who wrote by hand .. 600. Both were a bit fazed by computers. I know two people like that .. one who's just written two books using a word processor .. the other .. my dear friend who writes by hand who writes about 500/600 too.

I don't find any difference between the two .. some people have said they find that words flow more easily when writing by hand. and that's why they don't use a computer .. but that's why they write rather than type. Both men said they weren't at all technical .. like a lot of us. I don't know why but I'm a bit that way round computers though I've been picking up what I'm told pretty easily for the last month or so .. it was impossible before then because I was just so hazy from the problems moving down and the extra pain seemed to cause .. was why other people were offering to write and research for me .. but things seem to be picking up now.

Though not this morning .. thought I was going to have to call an ambulance because of the pain .. but it's eased off some again. Wasn't sure what to do .. could hardly move but didn't want to go to A and E if it was just going to pass because I knew I'd probably be admitted anyway. So just sat there for a couple of hours and it did improve .. not back to normal yet but much better than it was. I'll mention it to my doc next week.

Boomerang2

I may be wrong but I think they're back with a new id .. there's something rather familiar about the way this person writes. I may be wrong ofcourse but I don't think so.

Reminds me of E who I've just been back to have a peek at after not bothering for months. Well, all was oozing treacley sweetness except there are little barbed comments here and there and people apologizing for this and that. Hmmmmmmm .. so I checked out a couple of links .... found one message that said E and her had a lot of friends in common so pottered off to see how things were doing in that corner of the site ... and found someone apologizing to the woman who'd said that she and E had a lot of friends in common for not being around .. but said that she was sick of all the aggro there though she still thought of this woman as a friend. There you go,.

I've told my best friend there and she says just to leave it and see what happens .. says they'll make a mistake sooner or later .. come out with a bit of knowledge they shouldn't know being new .. something like that and I guess she's right. I wasn't that involved anyway .. for some reason or other they didn't seem that interested in me .. most of the time anyway. Though more in the couple of weeks before they got banned .. suppose they knew they'd been reported by then and were just taking it out on everyone.

I'm pretty sure it is them though .. they are dripping treacle everywhere too which is what reminded me of E.

whoops

Science is full of facts that had to be left until one part of science caught up with another before something could be proven. Often it's waiting for an instrument to be invented and/or sometimes it's waiting for someone to come up with the roght mathmatics or to have thought of a connecting link.

Sometimes what's been discovered turns out to be a feasible link in a chain but, as time goes on, needs a bit of manovering as new ideas come along. Sometimes not. It all seems very exciting now but there must be much more to come that's even more exciting. I think science often limits itself by thinking of theories of everything that aren't. It seems to be something that is on going for some reason or other as this idea of "that's all there is" seems to continually be around however often it's proven not to be so.

Ha ha .. my clock's just come up .. back to the kitchen .. lol!!!

evening

I enjoy researching the possibility of having a soul and there being life after death but I get tired easily. I very rarely used to think about it before and it wasn't anything that was talked about much .. though a couple of people had told me about experiences they'd had .. which I'd just put aside. It's strange, in a way though, the first time I set off on a journey off exploration .. nobody talked about it then either. It's very difficult to know exactly what anybody thinks about the subject really .. well, except for myself.

I've said what I have to let people know that I think there's a good possibility that there us and where to look if they want to know why people think that there might be .. I wandered off in the wrong direction the first time.

I do believe .. though I do sometimes wonder if I do .. years of thinking the other way still intrudes sometimes .. but, obviously if something isn't tangible it's very difficult to maintain a belief. One thing that makes me know that I do believe is how I cope with this illness. If I didn't I think that I'd be very different and that would be something that I couldn't control consciously .. so subconsciously I obviously do .. which is good to know.

I don't have any religious beliefs to go with it .. some of my friends do and some don't. I do more or less belong to a group of people where some of them have religious beliefs in that they believe in a god but the word god is open to a wide interpretation. Some don't have beliefs like that at all. I believe in a soul and all the other things that go with being part of them. I think they're the nearest to my own beliefs. I also feel quite connected to Buddhism as I've said before but I don't really believe in reincarnation .. I tend to think that we just have one life here but that's just my way of interpretting things.

It's up to people to investigate and decide what they think. If they want to .. there's heaps of research and peoples stories out there.

I don't think logically that you can ever have a closed mind to the fact that it could be a possibility though .. just from the fact that anything exists at all. It's baffling far beyond anything the human mind can think of to explain why there should be anywhere at all .. not just anything but anywhere for anything to exist in. Totally baffling .. roll out ur equations. explain what we do know through mathmatics/science but that is still left totally puzzling.

It's a beautiful way of seeing and exploring the universe/s but that's still something that can't be touched on.

As the guy said in the programme on Horizon it may sound like science fiction but it's science fact when talking about quantum mechanics .. something else that's great to read about.

I know someone through a friend who's just learning to read a lot better than they could .. didn't learn much at school though not dyslexic .. but wants to read popular science books now so is off to learn. They've said thanks for opening up a whole new world for them. Not the first person I've heard about who really didn't think they needed to learn because they could get a job without being able to read and write. He's really happy about it and has already learnt from asking people to show him this and that.

Anyway, off to get something to eat ... same as usual!!! lol!!! I chop it up really small now and it's easier to deal with though it doesn't matter if I don't eat it as I can get Fortesips off the NHS if I need them but I'd prefer not to.
